Another Gentle Reminder

We are the helpers.  We do our very best to place ourselves where we are most needed.  Even when we are feeling lost or hopeless, we know that we will do what it takes to aid those who need it.

We are the workers.  We do what we can when we can.  We give it our best efforts, knowing that a job well done may not give immediate external rewards.  But there is still gratification for the effort we put forth.

We are those who care.  We wonder if we care too much because it hurts when things appear to be going wrong.  Then, we wonder if we care too little because we didn't catch things early enough to stop bad things from happening.

Is it because we didn't care enough to understand what was going on - or is it because we cared too much and were blinded?  In the end, what matters is that we recognize that others care and fail to care as well.

We all care too much.  We all care too little.

We will be the bridge-builders.  We will build bridges between those who help and those who need, those who care and those that need to be cared for.  We will build those bridges so we can move forward together - even though we might do what we do on opposite sides of the flowing waters.

But, how will we build those bridges?  What must we do when the storm fills the river bed with an angry flood and a swirling mass that threatens to suck us all under?

The answer is still just this.  What we must do is:

Be the helpers.

Be the workers.

Be those who care.

And be the bridge builders.

Then we will find a way to deal with the turbulent river.  And we can move forward together.
