Holiday Shoppe 2020

This year requires us all to make adjustments and some folks could use a little help with those adjustments this year.  If you are in a position to help, you could donate to the Holiday Shoppe in Bremer County, Iowa this year.  If you find yourself in a place where you have children and wonder how you will be able to provide a few gifts for them this year and you live in Bremer County, you can contact the Waverly-Shell Rock United Way and request a chance to participate in the program this year.

The 34th Annual Bremer County Holiday Shoppe is also making adjustments to account for the pandemic and the potential that more families could use a hand right now.  If you want details about how you can support this program, click on the image for a larger version or you can look below:

So, why are we using space on our farm blog for this program?

I think it is a good program and worthy of support.  But, there is a very good reason that I think that - I actually have an excellent source of information regarding the program - and she lives on the farm with me.  The Social Work program at Wartburg College started this program and has managed it every year, with Social Work students leading the way.  Times are changing and the local United Way chapter, along with some local churches, are becoming more involved.

As has been true each year we have been at the farm, Tammy has been very much involved in this program simply because she is Social Work faculty at Wartburg.  Rob has been involved because his wife is very much involved in the program - and because he can occasionally provide useful service to the cause.  I hope you will consider throwing your hat into the ring as well!
